Scheme 1
The two storey house is located on a wooden slope overlooking a valley. Designed for a couple and their numerous pets, the first scheme the house hovers above the landscape. Many elements are designed to allow for low energy consumption including water supply harvested from an underground spring, glass skylights incorporating photovoltaics. Other features in this scheme include an interior courtyard, steel mesh curtain all around the perimeter for privacy/shading, outdoor/indoor pools, and a custom interior slit wall system which provides for the flexible addition of shelving, steps and other movable elements for the pets to climb or rest on.
Scheme 2
In the second scheme, the design takes advantage of the existing slope by partially sinking the house into the ground. This helps to keep it cool during the summer and warm during the winter. Also due to the step in the section what appears to be a one storey concrete wall opens up to a two storey glass volume overlooking valley views. Other features include a double height living space, an outdoor deck with lap pool and wrap around balconies.
